Mid-Century Sterling Silver Doris Heise Miller "Cabin Craft" Abstract Modernist Dangle Earrings
Mid-Century Sterling Silver Doris Heise Miller "Cabin Craft" Abstract Modernist Dangle Earrings
Doris Heise Miller was a jeweler who graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a degree in Arts Education. After finishing school, in the early 1930’s, when she was unable to find a job teaching, she opened up a shop and studio called Cabin Craft in Ephraim, Wisconsin, where she made many things, including wood block prints, but primarily sterling silver jewelry up until selling her shop in 1972. These fabricated earrings, with their decorative motif, double jump ring connection, as well as the shape, size and design, are very reminiscent of what was happening in Taxco, Mexico, during same time period. I’d imagine she was very much influenced by the popular trends of silversmithing at the time. Great condition with original patina, these earrings are screw backs but can easily be converted to posts or dangles, for an additional fee. Please email me directly to inquire about the added cost.
