Sterling Silver Los Ballesteros 1940's Art Deco Mayan Calendar Motif Pendant with Color-Change Corundum Alexandrite
Sterling silver Mayan calendar motif, Art Deco era pendant with original faceted, lab grown, synthetic Alexandrite (color-change corundum). An impressively substantial statement piece with exquisite detail. Stone color changes in sunlight and room light from an amethyst purple, to fuchsia, with hints of a vibrant blue and red, to a dusty blue. Original oxidation provides a lovely contrast against the bright silver intricate details of this piece. Originally started in 1937 by Jalil Majul Ballesteros, Talleres de Los Ballesteros is one of the oldest, and one of the few original silver smithing work shops in Taxco, Mexico, which continues to be in business to this day.
